Description

The YGHP shock arrestor is a pressure-dampening device installed within theHIU to absorb sudden spikes in water pressure. These spikes typically occur when valves close rapidly or when there are abrupt changes in flow velocity within the system.

Inside the arrestor is a sealed chamber containing air —separated from the system water by a  diaphragm. When a pressure surge occurs, the excess energy is absorbed as the gas compresses, preventing the shockwave from travelling through the pipework.

Although compact and often overlooked, the shock arrestor is a vital safeguard within a Heat Interface Unit. By controlling pressure surges and preventing water hammer, it protects the integrity of the system, enhances user comfort, and ensures long-term reliability—making it an indispensable component in any well-designed HIU system.
