YGHP indirect electronic HIU offer the very best in terms performance, longevity and price. The YGHP HIU offering is the ultimate package for designer, installer and consumer.

Smart technology offering the very best in performance, comfort and longevity

The YGHP electronic indirect heat interface units (HIUs) provide an efficient and intelligent solution for delivering heating and domestic hot water in modern district and communal heating systems. One of the main benefits is improved energy efficiency, as the electronic control system precisely regulates heat transfer from the primary network to the building’s heating and hot water circuits, reducing unnecessary heat loss and optimising performance.

Because the units operate indirectly through high-efficiency plate heat exchangers, they separate the primary and secondary circuits, protecting internal systems from contaminants, pressure fluctuations, and poor water quality often found in district networks. This separation significantly extends the lifespan of internal components such as radiators, underfloor heating systems, and pipework.

The electronic controls also allow for accurate temperature regulation and responsive demand management, ensuring occupants receive consistent hot water and heating while minimising energy consumption. In addition, YGHP electronic indirect HIUs are designed to be compact and space-saving, making them ideal for apartments and multi-residential buildings where plant room space is limited. Their modular design simplifies installation and maintenance, reducing downtime and service costs for building operators.

The YGHP electronic HIU also supports integration with building management systems (BMS) or online portal enabling real-time monitoring, billing accuracy, and better energy management across entire developments. Overall, YGHP electronic indirect HIUs enhance system reliability, improve user comfort, reduce operating costs, and support sustainability goals by enabling more efficient use of centrally generated heat.

PCB:

A PCB is a printed circuit board that has a myriad of components connected to the board by soldered tracks, a PCB allows appliances to switch voltage, current, and signals to many components within an appliance whilst maintaining safety parameters.

A key feature of a PCB is that appliances can enjoy the use of mechanical components where the more simplified use is required, and at the same time protect the unit or add increased efficiency to the appliance by independently controlling components that require signals or voltage.

PICV: (Pressure Independent Control Valve)

A PICV is a unique control valve that operates in a dynamic state, this means that during it’s operation it will never stay in a static position and will always be adjusting to meet the comfort and efficiency of the end user while in parallel the valve will adjust to use the correct temperature and flow from the network heat source.

The valves are fully modulating to react with system conditions, and this is usually controlled by electronic signals.

PWM: (Pulse Width Modulation)

A PWM signal is a digital method of controlling components that are traditionally analogue powered.

The PWM signal is delivered to the component in what is know as a “duty cycle” which in layman’s terms is pulsing the power supply on and off, the configuration this carried in determines the duty cycle and in turn modulates the component, this is a efficient way to control components without a large energy consumption and loss.

The HIU is equipped with an Expansion Vessel to maintain constant pressure in the system.

The Expansion Vessel is made from rubber diaphragm fixed membrane and according to the standards established by PED 2014/68/UE and DIN EN 13831 regulations.

To connect the HIU and the piping system of apartment, mounting plates are used. These plates have 6 ball valves (3 x red & 3 x blue) and rear wall bracket for HIU fitting.

Each HIU is equipped with a DHW brazed plate heat exchanger (Figure below) to transfer heat from the heating supply to the HIU for DHW preparation. In the YGHP HIU the DHW heat exchanger has optimized asymmetric plate geometries that combine extraordinary thermal efficiency with a low pressure drop and low return temperatures.

Diverting Actuator:

This component diverts the flow of water through a specific channel depending on the demand, the most common reason for this is to maintain comfort in certain areas, i.e. when a DHW demand is created which requires instant power to heat the water and for the best performance the majority of flow available should be distributed through the DHW channel, the diverting valve will do this by closing the heating port and allowing DHW priority when in demand to ensure the performance of the heating appliance.

HIU stand-off bracket is a mounting accessory designed to space the Heat Interface Unit away from the wall, creating a concealed void for pipework behind the unit. It enables a clean, streamlined installation while allowing flexibility for either all top or all bottom pipe connections, simplifying layout and improving aesthetics and reduce fitting time.

A flushing bypass on a Heat Interface Unit  is a temporary or semi-permanent hydraulic arrangement designed to allow system flushing, cleaning, and commissioning without passing debris through sensitive components such as the plate heat exchanger, control valves, or metering devices.

During installation or maintenance of district heating or communal systems, pipework often contains debris—flux residues, solder, metal particles, scale, and dirt. If this contaminated water flows through the HIU’s internal components, it can cause:

  • Blockage of the plate heat exchanger
  • Damage to control valves and actuators
  • Inaccurate readings or failure of heat meters
  • Reduced efficiency and premature wear

The flushing bypass prevents this by rerouting flow around the HIU internals.

YGHP filling loop for the YGHP electronic Heat Interface Unit  is a dedicated pipe circuit that allows for the controlled filling of the HIU’s internal heat exchanger with water from the central heating system. Its primary purpose is to ensure that the HIU is safely and efficiently charged with the correct water volume, pressure, and flow before it begins operation.

The kit includes valves, flexi hose and fittings to regulate the process, preventing air locks, overpressure, or leaks while maintaining optimal thermal performance. It is usually only used during commissioning, maintenance, or after system depressurization.
